Overview

A Vacancy at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust.

The post is based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital site with provision of out-reach clinics. To ensure the continued delivery of high-quality Obstetric and Gynaecological care to patients within the Trust and community, enthusiastic candidates with experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology and special interest in maternal medicine are welcomed to join the existing team of consultants and complement the existing service provision in general gynaecology and obstetrics services of high risk obstetrics and diabetic clinics.

A range of general and specialist obstetrics and gynaecological services are offered led by the consultants and supported by doctors, nurses, and midwives. These include urogynaecology, gynae-oncology, ambulatory (out-patient) gynaecology, early pregnancy assessment, colposcopy, high risk obstetrics and intrapartum care.

The appointed consultant would be expected to contribute to the ongoing service improvement programmes, Maternity Culture Transformation, and elective restoration pathway by implementing evidence based new ways of working when necessary.


Responsibilities

* Provide a comprehensive Obstetrics and general Gynaecology service to the Trust.
* Provide an on-call commitment for Central Delivery Suite and emergency Gynaecology cover as 1:10 (subjective to change). The post holder will be expected to be contactable and able to reach the hospital when needed within 30 minutes.
* Ensure services are delivered effectively and within budget with regard to the Trust's waiting times standards.
* Liaise closely with other departments and outside agencies in contributing to the objectives of our Services.
* Provide an Outpatients service for new referrals and ongoing care.
* Develop new services locally.


Organizational

* Teaching and training of junior staff, medical students and other healthcare professionals.
* The successful candidate will play an important part in the day-to-day management of gynaecology, antenatal and postnatal patients and in the running of the labour ward.
* Provide a continuing responsibility for the care of patients under their care.
* Contribute to the service redesign and development at District General Hospital level, developing Intrapartum care.
* Contribute to the development of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Service by participating in meetings and contributing to service development business plans.
