To excel in this role, in addition to the required experience, the successful Production Engineer must also be a good team player, well organised and possess good communication skills.
The Role
The Production Engineer role is to effectively engineer the transition of a product from an R&D project through to production. This will involve providing the necessary guidance, documentation and information required to allow ongoing production and support of our mechanical products.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Work as part of a cross departmental group responsible for ensuring the smooth transition of a product from design to production
2. Responsible for the provision of various formats of information required to allow manufacturing and servicing to be conducted repeatedly to meet required company and industry quality standards
3. Identify appropriate methods of manufacture for the companys products ensuring that best practices are employed
4. Work with suppliers and purchasing to coordinate and help manage the supply chain in relation to outsourced activities, including supplier auditing and performance reviews
5. Review manufacturing methods regularly as part of the companys drive for continual improvement
6. Operate within the document control system to ensure all manufacturing information and documentation is formally approved, released and amended
7. Ensure manufacturing database information is accurately maintained
Skills & Experience
Required
8. Experience in assembling and testing mechanical assemblies and products
9. Experience in creating and updating assembly and test procedures, along with associated records
10. Experience in interpreting and creating engineering drawings and bills of materials
11. Knowledge and understanding of process hold points, QC activities and FATs
Desirable
12. Qualified in a mechanical engineering discipline
13. PC literate, proficient with Microsoft Office software, Word and Excel is essential
14. Experience in using Autodesk Inventor and Vault, or similar packages is essential
15. Experience in using MS Visio and Adobe FrameMaker beneficial
16. Excellent communication skills
