Finance Director
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead the finance function based in Hull, UK, operating as a divisional shared service centre supporting multiple EMEA business units.
This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for financial control, reporting, planning, and decision support, working closely with the Managing Director and wider Leadership Team. The Finance Director will drive financial discipline, accountability, and insight across the organisation while ensuring robust governance and compliance within an international group environment.
This role is based onsite in Hull and will require regular travel across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, develop, and manage the finance team, including transactional finance operations supporting EMEA business units.
* Partner with the Managing Director and Leadership Team to deliver financial objectives and drive business performance.
* Ensure the timely and accurate production of monthly management accounts, forecasts, and business plans.
* Provide clear financial insight, analysis, and reporting to support effective decisionmaking across the business.
* Embed and maintain the Group control environment in line with the Group Accounting Manual and related policies.
* Oversee the accuracy and integrity of financial systems, accounting records, and internal controls.
* Support the development and financial evaluation of significant capital investment projects.
* Produce statutory accounts for the Group as required, in line with applicable accounting standards and legislation.
Qualifications
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), ideally with a Big 4 background.
* Significant postqualification experience (circa 5+ years) in a senior finance or financial management role.
* Experience within a manufacturing environment; exposure to contracting is desirable.
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance data accuracy and timely decisionmaking.
* Proven leadership capability with experience influencing and partnering across crossfunctional teams.
* Experience operating within a matrix or international group reporting environment.
* Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights.
* Strong understanding of financial systems, reporting, and governance frameworks.
