Safety Systems Engineer - Aviation
Line Up is seeking an experienced Aerospace System Safety Engineer to deliver safety engineering tasks required for the Certification of Boeing Commercial Aircraft. The System Safety Engineer will work closely with colleagues in Seattle to manage safety requirements and develop verification evidence.
Role: Safety Systems Engineer – Civil Aerospace
Location: Bristol or Yeovil (Hybrid working is available)
Hours: Mon-Fri – UK working hours with occasional meetings in US time zone
IR35 Status: Inside
Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain BPSS/SC Security Clearances
Hourly Rate: Negotiable
Contract: 12 months with a possible extension
Travel: Quarterly visits to the US are expected
Key Responsibilities
* Tag airplane-level, system-level, and item-level safety requirements to ensure aircraft development meets ARP4754A and supports DO178B/C and DO-254 compliance.
* Conduct system-level verification and validation tasks aligned to System Safety Assessments (SSAs).
* Develop and review safety analyses such as Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Common Mode Analysis to establish verification arguments.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to manage safety throughout the product and service lifecycle.
Basic Qualifications & Skills
* Bachelor's Degree or higher
* 10+ years of experience in an Aerospace Engineering role
* 6+ years of experience in System Safety Engineering
* Proven experience with aircraft safety assessment methodologies prescribed by ARP 4761
* Proven experience with the integral process of ARP 4754
* Proven experience with Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) using Reliability Workbench (RWB) and/or CAFTA
Preferred Qualifications
* Formal System Safety Engineering training or academic qualification
* Experience with developing safety analysis for ATA 27 – Flight Controls
