EQUANS is looking for a Maintenance Plumber to work on our Lancashire and Blackburn Schools contract across Blackburn and Burnley. This role is a permanent full‑time position working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
Responsibilities
* Carry out building maintenance as required
* Provide technical solutions for planned preventative maintenance (PPM) work and fault rectification
* Undertake fault finding and diagnosis, problem solve and communicate technical knowledge to team members
* Provide detailed knowledge of plant status, building conditions, and service availability
* Manage energy across the project, including BMS PC information adjustments
* Undertake CP/RP duties in specialist fields
* React to technical issues and support the team when required
* Maintain planned and reactive schedules
* Build and maintain effective relationships with existing customers/clients
* Provide out of hours cover according to roster
* Order specialist materials in line with company policy
* Assist and work flexibly with other trades to minimise disruption
* Respond to breakdown requests in a timely manner
* Carry out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works
* Safely operate hand and power tools under health & safety guidelines
* Ensure correct use of personal protective equipment and adherence to infection control procedures
* Maintain records as appropriate
* Participate in standby operatives' on‑call rota and other Equans projects as directed
* Address the impacts of weather conditions on schools and respond safely (e.g. snow clearing, gritting)
Qualifications & Experience
* Plumbing recognised accreditation/certification or Gas Safe registration
* Previous experience in facilities management maintenance, preferably within an educational environment
* Experience working on both commercial and domestic water systems
* Good understanding of Rain Water Harvesting Systems
* Completed L8 ACOP training and awareness of Legionella risks in water systems
* Proven track record of practical maintenance skills and fault finding
* Enhanced DBS clearance essential
* Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
* Good understanding of health and safety, zero‑harm principles and site policies
* Adaptability to out‑of‑hours overtime and flexible work arrangements
* Full UK driving licence (vehicle provided)
