Step into a pivotal role with PwC’s Restructuring & Insolvency (R&I) Team as a Manager where your perspectives are valued and your skills can grow. We offer both advisory and executory restructuring services, working with a diverse range of Public Sector clients including government departments, arms-length bodies, regulators, critical suppliers to government and many more.

As part of the UK's largest restructuring services firm, you will be central to solving critical financial, operational, and strategic challenges within the Public Sector, driving PwC’s purpose to build trust in society.
Being part of the R&I team provides a unique opportunity to gain experience across both advisory and executory restructuring service offerings:
1. Public Sector restructuring advisory: we provide hands-on support to our Public Sector clients, helping them to consider and develop solutions for navigating through complex challenges, balancing key considerations such as value for money, policy objectives and broader political priorities. These projects include working with both Government stakeholders and companies that actively engage with Government departments alongside focussing on the company and/or sector in distress. This could involve performing independent business reviews (IBRs), strategic reviews, options analysis, cash flow management and much more. We are looking for people who are keen to develop themselves across this wide range of skills and we will provide the environment and support to help grow your experience and confidence.
2. Executory restructuring: we advise on restructuring solutions and how insolvency processes can be used to maximise outcomes for all stakeholders. Our work includes all aspects of pre-insolvency advice and options assessment, contingency planning, or executing administrations, liquidations and other rescue mechanisms.
What your day will look like:
3. Working on high-profile, fast-paced projects where the public sector is a key stakeholder in restructuring and insolvency situations.
4. Lead small teams on projects, with the support of senior colleagues, and assist in delivering larger complex projects.
5. Getting coaching from the senior team around you about any new / complex technical or soft skill experience that you might not yet have fully honed – we are focused on developing our people and don't expect anyone to know everything about these complex situations. You'll be in a safe environment where no question is a ‘stupid question’.
6. Conduct critical financial analysis using your own commercial experience and advanced tools to support projects and identify new opportunities.
7. Create reports and presentations for a variety of clients and stakeholders in both advisory and executory roles.
8. Engage in business development activities, networking with potential clients with the support of the senior team and intermediaries, working with colleagues to uncover new opportunities and innovative solutions.
9. Stay current with digital tools, including GenAI, that can assist in solving client problems and discovering new work opportunities.
10. Communicate effectively to bridge gaps between junior and senior team members.
11. Foster a culture of continuous learning through open coaching conversations and personal development initiatives.
This Role is for you if:
12. You are enthusiastic and proactive with an interest in helping companies navigate through difficult circumstances, and with experience in finance consultancy or advisory, although it's not essential.
13. Must possess a CA/ACA/ACCA Qualification (or an international equivalent) or have work experience in and around the restructuring market (whether that's a project you delivered while working for a Gov department or at a financial institution. You have strong report writing and financial analysis skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel / PowerPoint and a hunger to build on your experience with both.
14. You are interested in developing your knowledge around digital tools, including GenAI, that can assist in solving client problems and discovering new work opportunities, with an interest in deploying them in your work.
15. You are commercially aware in restructuring and/or insolvency and have a genuine interest in how businesses operate.
16. Have experience in the Public Sector or have worked with government in your current role.
17. Have an interest in government priorities including key policy measures (e.g. Industrial Strategy).
18. You are passionate about and have a commitment to support business development and marketing efforts in a caring and collaborative way
