3 Month Contract With A local Authority
Job Purpose
To provide effective leadership and day-to-day operational management of the Adult Social Care Access (Front Door) Team and the Older People Review Team. The post holder will ensure high-quality, timely, and legally compliant practice, supporting staff to deliver safe and effective outcomes for adults and carers.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide day-to-day operational cover for the Access Team and Older People Review Team.
* Ensure the effective delivery of statutory duties under the Care Act 2014 and related legislation.
* Manage workflow, performance, and priorities to ensure timely responses and reviews.
* Act as a point of escalation for complex cases, safeguarding concerns, and service pressures.
* Provide visible, supportive leadership across both teams.
* Line manage and supervise the Deputy Team Manager and Access Team staff.
* Ensure regular supervision, performance management, and staff development.
* Support, guide, and mentor unqualified staff, promoting good practice and professional standards.
* Quality check and approve assessments, care and support plans, reviews, and contact forms.
* Ensure all work is compliant with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, council policies, and procedures.
* Promote strengths-based, person-centred practice across the service.
* Monitor and manage service budgets, ensuring effective use of resources.
* Authorise and oversee care packages in line with financial thresholds and policy.
* Contribute to efficiency savings while maintaining quality and safety.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams, health partners, and external providers.
* Contribute to service improvement, practice development, and implementation of change.
* Represent the service at meetings and operational forums as required
Requirements
* Significant experience working within Adult Social Care, ideally including Access/Front Door and Older People services.
* Proven management and supervisory experience, including staff supervision and performance management.
* Strong working knowledge of the Care Act 2014, safeguarding, and related legislation.
* Experience of quality assuring assessments, care plans, and reviews.
* Ability to manage budgets and make sound financial decisions.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
* Ability to work at pace and manage competing priorities.
* Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
* Experience of managing multidisciplinary or high-volume front-door services.
* Experience supporting and developing unqualified staff
