The Role
Our multi‑skilled engineers provide the highest standard of maintenance—including reactive, planned preventative, and scheduled services—supporting Utilita Arena Newcastle and ancillary venues to ensure safe, secure, and compliant operations.
You will maintain and develop facilities and installed systems, manage building and event services before, during, and after events. The role encompasses the operation, maintenance, and servicing of all building infrastructure and equipment, maximising reliability, availability, and environmental standards while supporting exceptional client and visitor experiences.
You’ll be responsible for:
* Delivering high‑quality maintenance and engineering services, including planned, reactive, and event‑time support across all building systems, plant, and equipment.
* Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, health and safety standards, and risk management practices while supporting safe, efficient venue operations.
* Providing technical support during events, load‑ins, and load‑outs, including temporary power installation and operation of venue systems.
* Collaborating with internal teams, external contractors, and clients to maintain facilities, optimise operations, and deliver continuous improvement.
* Maintaining accurate records, managing PPM schedules, and contributing to project delivery, environmental compliance, and sustainability initiatives.
You will have:
* An engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3/C&G/ONC or equivalent) with post‑qualification experience in maintenance, ideally with knowledge of electrical, mechanical, building, and plumbing systems.
* Demonstrable working knowledge of electrical standards, including BS7671, BS7909, and safe isolation procedures, plus experience with portable and fixed appliance testing.
* Experience in or awareness of the events industry, demonstrating strong service delivery, communication, and leadership skills.
* Ability to work independently, troubleshoot, and manage maintenance tasks efficiently.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office, CAFM systems, and ideally recent training in forklift (counterbalance) and IPAF operations.
