Teaching Assistant – SEN School

Supply Desk is delighted to be working with an outstanding SEN school in Watford. We are currently recruiting a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis.
This role offers a meaningful opportunity to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism, and other complex learning difficulties. If you’re passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning, we’d love to hear from you.
About the Role
You’ll work alongside classroom teachers and SEND specialists to support pupils across Key Stages 2 to 4. The school provides a structured, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where your support will help students build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve both academic and personal goals.
Key Responsibilities
Delivering 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual needs
Assisting with behaviour regulation and emotional resilience
Adapting learning materials to engage students effectively
Supporting EHCP targets and behaviour support plans
Building positive relationships with pupils and staff
Contributing to a calm and inclusive classroom environment
Monitoring and reporting on pupil progress and well-being
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with children or young people with SEN or SEMH needs
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
Confidence in managing challenging behaviour
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Understanding of trauma-informed practices and inclusive education
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
