The role
As PLM Configuration Manager, you will be the enterprise authority and shape how engineering product data is structured, controlled and released across a complex, global organisation operating at the heart of defence, aerospace and engineering. This is a high‑impact role where you'll define and govern configuration management standards globally across the organisation and serve as the subject matter expert for product lifecycle management.
The work you do will help ensure quality, traceability and compliance across products that matter while advancing your expertise, exposure and influence as part of a strategic global team.
Day-to-day, you'll influence major engineering programmes that support national defence, critical infrastructure and long‑term security.
* Define and oversee how engineering product data is structured, controlled and released within the Enterprise PLM platform.
* Lead global configuration management governance, ensuring consistent, auditable processes across the organisation.
* Manage engineering change, BOM structures, variants and standards compliance at enterprise scale.
* Work closely with engineering leads, product development, digital and governance teams across Babcock.
* Act as the organisation's subject matter expert for configuration management, guiding best practice and continuous improvement.
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home.
Essential experience of the PLM Configuration Manager
* Extensive experience in configuration management, PLM or engineering data governance.
* Proven experience with complex products managing BOMs, variants and engineering change at enterprise scale across multiple programmes.
* Strong working knowledge of configuration management standards including ISO 10007 and EIA‑649.
* Experience with major PLM platforms such as Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE or Siemens Teamcenter.
Qualifications for the PLM Configuration Manager
Essential:
* Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related technical discipline.
Desirable:
* Configuration Management professional certification.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) / Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role. Must be British Nationals.
