Assistant Highways Engineer

We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Assistant Highways Engineer to join our team in Edinburgh. These roles can be worked flexibly, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office and the option of adjusted start and finish times.

Recent projects include the Queensferry Crossing, Cross Tay Link Road, Clyde Waterfront, Renfrew Riverside, M9 Winchburgh Interchange, and Aberdeen South Harbour Link Road.
Responsibilities
* Work on landmark projects and schemes of all shapes and sizes.
* Provide exposure to varied project work in all project stages from inception through to construction and handover.
* Undertake engineering design and development, supporting the Highways Lead, including road geometry, drainage, pavement, road restraint systems, traffic signs, and road markings.
* Produce design outputs such as drawings, specifications, schedules, reports, and calculations to achieve optimum solutions.
* Collaborate closely with team members and other design disciplines.
* Ensure solutions meet client needs and expectations.
* Ensure all work is carried out to Sweco’s IMS and current H&S legislation requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
* Relevant degree and working towards a relevant professional qualification.
* Some experience of delivering elements of highway projects or work packages on larger multi-disciplinary projects.
* Experience of AutoCAD and understanding of its integration with the BIM environment.
* A desire to learn, progress and challenge yourself.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
