About The Job
The Safeguarding and Moderation Coordinator will report to the Education and Quality Lead and work directly with the Safeguarding and Moderation Team to coordinate and maintain a safe and quality learning experience for participants across Generation Global’s online platforms. They will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring and moderation of the Ultimate Dialogue Adventure. This includes coordinating the efforts around content moderation of Generation Global's digital platforms and collaborating with the moderation team to further develop best practices, safeguarding, and quality assurance for the user experience. This also includes responding to safeguarding concerns, maintaining accurate case records, producing regular moderation and incident trend reports, and contributing insights to program improvement.
Responsibilities
* Screen the written dialogue queue and topics daily to ensure user behavior is in alignment with the platform and content rules.
* Review and assess user conduct on the Ultimate Dialogue Adventure in written and video conference spaces for any safeguarding concerns.
* Manage the moderation and safeguarding inbox daily.
* Respond to safeguarding issues and concerns appropriately.
* Complete safeguarding and moderation reports.
* Contact users as necessary to address the proper use of the platform and support their development in dialogue skills.
* Update and manage moderation tracking tools and documents to ensure transparency and consistency of information across the moderation team.
* Produce quarterly reports with recommendations on safeguarding and moderation activity including quality of dialogue reviews.
* Attend regular meetings with the Safeguarding and Moderation Teams and other team members as needed.
* Participate in trainings for moderation, quality assurance, and safeguarding as required.
* Carry out other relevant tasks associated with safeguarding and moderation as required.
* Report safeguarding concerns to the Education and Quality Lead and perform regular evaluations with the safeguarding team.
* Work closely with the Education Consultant to identify issues and track the quality of dialogue in the dialogue spaces and determine appropriate responses as needed.
* Report any quality assurance issues to the Education and Quality team.
* Work closely with the Moderation Team to address new challenges and generate ideas to improve the user experience on the platform.
Qualifications
* Background in child protection, social work, school counselling/education, or psychology.
* Certification in youth behavioural therapy or equivalent.
* Experience moderating online communities, especially youth-focused platforms.
* Experience with digital safeguarding protocols and incident response.
* Knowledge of online safety laws and regulations, including GDPR, COPPA, Online Safety Act and other relevant data and child protection laws.
* Familiarity with platform-specific policies (e.g., content moderation, age verification, abuse reporting).
* Proficient in navigating moderation tools and dashboards.
* Proven ability to manage confidential information and handle personal data securely in line with organisational policy.
* Strong problem-solving skills and capacity to exercise sound judgement in escalation and response.
* High attention to detail and ability to apply moderation guidelines consistently and accurately.
* Experience working with culturally diverse youth, with strong skills in intercultural dialogue and communication.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in diverse environments.
* Strong analytical skills and the ability to aggregate and translate user data into reports.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to work flexibly and be adaptable, in response to changing situations on the ground, across a variety of time zones.
