Public Programme Coordinator (Schools Bursary)
Job posted 18/05/2026, reference SMG03507. The role is fixed‑term part‑time (21 hrs/week) until 31 August 2028, based at any Science Museum Group site. Salary up to £18,540 pro rata (London) or £15,759 pro rata (Manchester, York & Bradford).
About the role
As Public Programme Coordinator (Schools Bursary), you will coordinate and administer a new Schools Bursary fund, ensuring fair and effective delivery, overseeing financial monitoring, stakeholder communication, and reporting. You will be the primary operational contact, supporting schools through application processes and maintaining systems to monitor spend, uptake, and impact.
Responsibilities
* Coordinating the launch and ongoing management of the bursary fund with Public Programme, Fundraising & Partnerships, Finance, Legal, and Communications.
* Administering the bursary, managing applications and ensuring compliance and fairness.
* Monitoring financial use of funds, preparing and reviewing numerical information.
* Maintaining records in a Customer Relationship Management system and generating reports.
* Communicating with stakeholders, including schools and internal teams, to support effective use of the fund.
* Reporting on uptake, spend, and impact to senior management.
Qualifications
* Experience in administration, preferably in a related sector.
* Ability to prepare and review financial information.
* Proficiency using a CRM or similar system to record data and produce reports.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build productive working relationships.
Working arrangements
Hybrid working available with a minimum of 40% of hours onsite at the Science Museum in London.
