Our design co-ordinator will play a key role in the successful delivery of our civil projects by managing all aspects of the design delivery from contract award through to completion. This includes ensuring the design is delivered on time, reviewed by the team, approved by the client, and that queries and challenges during construction are addressed. The role involves travel on a weekly basis, with three days onsite and the remaining days based at one of our main offices or working from home.
Projects
Our civil engineering division works across Transportation, Water, Marine, and Energy sectors. The role focuses on supporting the design team with large Water framework projects, including contracts with Northumbrian Water to enhance water supply resilience in England, with current works in Durham and Barsham. We also work with Anglian Water, Affinity Water, Northern Ireland Water, and Irish Water.
As a Design Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for:
* Managing the development of designs from contract award to completion
* Providing clear guidance to designers and monitoring progress
* Ensuring designs are coordinated and approved ahead of the construction schedule
* Reviewing design information for compliance, buildability, financial viability, and temporary works
* Contributing to risk management, opportunity identification, and value engineering
* Resolving technical and design issues and sharing solutions with the team
* Minimising risks related to defects, hazards, and non-compliance
* Advising on protocols and workflows for formatted information
* Implementing BIM as required and supporting the BIM Manager
* Supporting the client with CDM regulations and design development obligations
Required Skills and Experience
* Proven civil design coordination experience within the industry
* Strong understanding of modern construction techniques, plant, and equipment
* Knowledge of civil engineering projects and contractual awareness (NEC, JCT, etc.)
* Proficiency in MS Office, Asta Powerproject, AutoCAD
* Experience with document management systems
* Knowledge of MEICA integration and BIM on live projects
* Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field
* Valid UK manual driving license
