Job Title: Commercial Director
Location: London (Hybrid – 3 days per week in and around London)
Salary: £100,000–£120,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus
About the Role
The Director for Commercial & Contracts will play a pivotal leadership role, overseeing all commercial and subcontracting activities across several major business areas. You will lead senior managers and their teams to deliver best-in-class commercial support and customer excellence.
This is a strategic, high-impact position requiring a seasoned commercial leader with exceptional negotiation skills, strong stakeholder engagement capability, and a proven track record managing complex, high-value contracts and subcontracts.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a high-performing contracts and subcontracts team, including talent development, recruitment, coaching, and performance management.
* Develop strategies for competitive, complex medium- to high-value proposals supporting business growth.
* Own contracting and subcontracting execution strategies that enhance programme efficiency and drive margin improvement.
* Provide leadership across bids, proposals, and execution phases to ensure compliance with internal policies and governance.
* Build and maintain senior-level relationships with customers, suppliers, industry partners, and relevant government bodies.
* Represent the organisation in external working groups and strategic engagements.
* Support international and strategic business activities as required.
* Deliver innovative contracting solutions for key opportunities and contribute to long-term commercial strategy.
* Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure optimal commercial outcomes.
Skills & Experience Required
* Extensive experience in contracts/subcontracts management, including leadership of senior teams.
* Strong background in high-value commercial agreements, negotiation, dispute resolution, and change management.
* Resilient, adaptable, and able to manage complex stakeholder environments.
* Evidence of delivering value-for-money proposals and achieving business targets.
* Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage at executive level.
* Willingness to travel across the UK and internationally when required.
