Our Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) in Guildford is looking for volunteers to join them to help keep local communities informed of policing activity through positive and regular engagement.
If you are able to spare four hours a week (or more) to support our SNT between the hours of 07:00 and 17:00 Monday to Saturday, we would love to hear from you so please apply now!

The Role & Key Responsibilities
You will be part of a policing family making a real difference. It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.
Your main responsibility as a Safer Neighbourhood Volunteer will be to engage with local communities to help build positive relationships and breakdown perceptions around policing. As a Safer Neighbourhood volunteer, you will be using online systems and social media channels to promote the work of the SNT. There will be opportunities to coordinate local events such as drop-in centres, beat surgeries and partnership days.
You will be connecting with local watch schemes including Neighbourhood Watch and assisting with the extraction and review of local crime information and presenting this in community updates.

Skills & Experience
As a Safer Neighbourhood Volunteer, engagement will be a large part of your role so you will need to have great communication skills and be able to use different channels including social media.
Working as part of a team, you will need to be well-organised and be able to plan and coordinate key tasks/events within local communities.
You will need to be confident and competent in the use of ICT systems as your volunteer role will involve the use of Microsoft Office programmes, our incident reporting and community messaging systems.
