Location: Bristol (in-person required)
Type: Part-time or contract (flexible) to start with, with aim of Full-time.
Start: March/April 2026
CINELUX is a Bristol-based startup designing premium camera accessories for professional filmmaking. We're currently a small founding team of two, building and shipping real products used by filmmakers around the world - and we're at a point where we need more help on the technical side.
We're looking for a hands-on design / engineering assistant to work closely with our lead engineer (David), helping move products from concept through prototyping and into manufacture. This is an early-stage role, so you'll have real responsibility and a genuine say in how things are built.
What you'll be doing
Assisting with mechanical design and CAD work
Preparing designs for prototyping and manufacture
Iterating on existing products and contributing to new ones
Supporting testing, fitment checks, and real-world problem solving
Working closely with a small founding team on product decisions
What we're looking for
Bristol-based (this is non-negotiable)
Passionate about design and engineering
Comfortable using CAD (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar)
An interest in camera systems, filmmaking, or optical/mechanical products
Practical, curious, and comfortable working in a startup environment
Someone who enjoys problem-solving, iteration, and learning as they go
Nice to have (but not essential)
Experience with CNC machining, tolerances, or manufacturing
Knowledge of camera systems, lens mounts, or optical hardware
Familiarity with electronics repair, modifications, or DIY hardware projects
Background in mechanical engineering, product design, or similar
Why this role?
Flexible hours / contract to start
Direct access to the founders and real influence on products
Hands-on experience taking products from idea to market
A chance to grow with the company as CINELUX expands
We're small right now, but we have clear plans to grow, launch new products, and build out the team over time. If you're excited by the idea of joining early and helping shape that journey, we'd love to hear from you.
Send a short intro about yourself and any relevant work or projects.
