Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of machinery and equipment across our facilities. This role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and a strong commitment to safety and quality standards. The Senior Mechanic will also mentor junior staff and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department.
Duties
* Conduct comprehensive diagnostics on mechanical systems and machinery to identify faults or potential issues.
* Perform repairs, replacements, and preventive maintenance on various mechanical components, ensuring minimal downtime.
* Oversee the installation of new equipment and ensure it complies with safety and operational standards.
* Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections in accordance with company procedures.
* Lead troubleshooting efforts during machinery breakdowns, providing guidance to junior team members.
* Assist in developing maintenance schedules and procedures to optimise operational efficiency.
* Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment at all times.
* Support continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing equipment reliability and performance.
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Mechanic, with a minimum of five years in a similar role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components related to machinery maintenance.
* Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Engineering Maintenance or equivalent recognised certification.
* Excellent diagnostic skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals.
* Leadership qualities with experience mentoring or supervising junior staff preferred.
* Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively under pressure.
* Strong commitment to health and safety standards; certification in health & safety is desirable.
* Flexibility to work outside regular hours if required for emergency repairs or scheduled maintenance activities. Pay: £30,940.00-£45,000.00 per year
