Project Worker - Participation and Children’s Rights
Location: Scottish Borders - Bairns Hoose (Selkirk). Salary: £30,002 - £35,076 (based on 35 hours). Post Type: Part-time. Closing Date: 22 September 2025. Interview Date: It is anticipated that interviews will be held on 29 September 2025. Reference number: CF25-29. Additional information: 28 hours and fixed term till 31 March 2026.
Responsibilities
* Capture the voices of children, young people and their families with lived experience of child protection and justice processes to ensure the Bairns Hoose model is child centred and developed in partnership with children and young people.
* Ensure feedback, views and experiences of children and young people are systematically gathered at various points of their experience of child protection and/or justice processes.
* Collate feedback, support evaluation of key messages, and enable these to be shared using different mediums in meetings, events and forums.
* Support young people and parents or carers to develop Bairns Hoose advisory groups to enable ongoing engagement in the development of the model across the Scottish Borders and nationally.
* Promote the rights of children and young people in a positive and proactive way, and help others incorporate a children\'s rights perspective into their work and practices.
* Gather information and experiences related to Joint Investigative Interviews, forensic examinations, police and child protection investigations, and young people who have given evidence in court, including the Sheriff Courts and the High Court in Edinburgh.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience of working within or alongside the current child protection and/or justice systems.
* Ability to create a safe environment for vulnerable children and young people to share their experiences using a range of communication methods and approaches.
Base and Travel
Your base will be shared between our office in Selkirk and venues within the local community. You will work on an outreach basis to connect with children and families across the Scottish Borders. A driving licence and access to a car is essential.

This is a fixed term, part-time role of 28 hours a week, funded initially until 31 March 2026 with the hope of further funding.
