Overview
Metrea is a defense company dedicated to translating commercial innovation into solutions for the hardest problems in national security. Metrea focuses on delivering effects-as-a-service across Aerospace, Electromagnetic & Cyber, Digital & Synthetic domains via its capability groups. Metrea consists of six support groups (Operations, People, Finance, Legal, Strategy and Solutions) that guide the development of specific capabilities that Metrea's files (product, projects, programs etc) leverage to achieve their targets.

Position summary
Metrea is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join our software development team, building software solutions that provide geospatial data processing and visualisations. The position requires delivery of well-defined tasks, in collaboration with more experienced engineers.
Responsibilities
* Write well tested code and documentation in-line with our engineering principles.
* Release code to production in collaboration with more experienced engineers.
* Demonstrate understanding of the software architectures and design patterns used within the product.
* Debug and resolve issues relating to your code changes in production.
* Contribute to code reviews of teammates code, helping to maintain and improve the code quality of the product whilst learning and improving the quality of your own code.
* Collaborate closely with your teammates to understand how to write more effective code, and prioritise your own learning to better serve the team.
* Examine existing code and identify opportunities for improvement.
* Adhere to our Ways of Working when delivering on assigned tasks.
* Communicate progress regularly and clearly with your team to ensure we’re tracking our delivery against the product roadmap.
Skills and experience
* HND or BSc level qualification in Software Engineering or equivalent Computer Science related discipline
* Strong understanding and practical experience of web development using JavaScript Frameworks e.g. React/Angular.
* Understanding and/or experience of team delivery in an Agile software development environment.
* Drive to learn constantly and further your knowledge.
* Strong organisational skills, proactive approach to task delivery and required documentation.
* Great interpersonal skills, able to confidently communicate and articulate technical issues to non-technical team members.

Work authorization and location
Right to Work: The employee will have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom and will be able to produce right to work documentation.
Work authorization / security clearance: Employee must be a UK citizen and must be able to have and maintain a SC Clearance as a minimum.

Travel: This role may require occasional travel to other Metrea UK offices.

Position type and hours: This is a full-time non-exempt position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours may change according to business needs. Exempt employees must be on-call as required. Non-Exempt employees may work overtime with department approval.
