An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Think Family Safeguarding Service supporting the Associate Chief Nurse for Safeguarding in a new role as Operational Head of Safeguarding. We are looking for an experienced, senior practitioner with a passion for safeguarding adults, children, and children in care, with a clear commitment to delivering high-quality care and innovative provision to improve outcomes.
Role Overview
As the Operational Head of Safeguarding, you will provide senior leadership and expertise, ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding practice across the Trust. You will support the Associate Chief Nurse for Safeguarding in implementing and delivering the WWL Safeguarding Strategy, demonstrating adherence to and appreciation of the Trust’s Values and Behaviours. You will be a key leader in ensuring the delivery of statutory and regulatory safeguarding requirements, providing robust line management and oversight to the Named Safeguarding Professionals and the wider Think Family Safeguarding Service. You should demonstrate competence and confidence in safeguarding at a senior operational level, with clear safeguarding insight and vision to act in a deputy role for the Associate Chief Nurse at a strategic level.
Key Responsibilities
1. Providing senior leadership and expertise in safeguarding practice across the Trust.
2. Supporting the implementation of the WWL Safeguarding Strategy aligned with Trust values.
3. Ensuring statutory and regulatory safeguarding requirements are met.
4. Managing and overseeing the Named Safeguarding Professionals and the Safeguarding Service.
5. Acting in a deputy role for the Associate Chief Nurse at a strategic level.
6. Supporting the Safeguarding Service Senior Management Team and Corporate Nursing Division in achieving performance targets.
7. Working within complex safeguarding environments, ensuring governance aligns with national standards.
8. Representing WWL Safeguarding Service at local safeguarding boards and partnerships.
9. Understanding regional and national drivers affecting safeguarding within the health and social care context.
