Job Description:
We are looking for a friendly and motivated Food Service Assistant to join our team at HMRC Belfast. You’ll play a key role in delivering excellent customer service through the preparation, presentation, and service of food and beverages. From creating barista-style drinks to supporting food service and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment, you’ll help ensure every customer has a great experience.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and serve food and beverages to a high standard, ensuring customer satisfaction.
* Provide advice and guidance on menu choices, including awareness of dietary requirements (e.g., allergies to nuts, dairy, or wheat).
* Prepare and serve barista-style beverages.
* Operate tills and handle cash transactions accurately.
* Replenish stock, food, and equipment during service to avoid interruptions.
* Maintain cleanliness across kitchen, café, dining, and service areas, following cleaning schedules and safety standards.
* Follow health and safety, food safety, and hygiene practices at all times.
* Support stock control, including deliveries, storage, and rotation (FIFO).
* Assist with pot wash, utensils, crockery, and general cleaning tasks.
* Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly.
* Work flexibly to cover holidays and sickness when required.
* Contribute ideas in team meetings to improve service and enhance the customer experience.
What You’ll Need:
* Previous experience in catering, hospitality, or food service is desirable.
* Strong customer service skills with a positive, can-do attitude.
* Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards.
* Good communication skills and a team-focused approach.
* High levels of personal hygiene and smart appearance.
* Understanding of health & safety, food safety, and cleaning procedures.
* Flexibility to work additional hours when needed.
