About the Role As a multi skilled Maintenance Technician, you'll be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving a wide range of the port's mechanical assets. You'll use your technical expertise to diagnose complex faults, carry out planned and reactive maintenance, and ensure safety and compliance across all tasks. Working both independently and as part of a cross functional team, you'll support essential operations across the port, sometimes in challenging environments and under time pressure. You'll also act as a lead on small projects, support out of hours work, and liaise with colleagues, contractors and external stakeholders. What You'll Be Doing * Carry out maintenance, repairs and improvement works across diverse assets including linkspans, heavy plant, RORO tugs, hydraulic systems, vehicles and small craft. * Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical faults. * Complete planned preventive and reactive maintenance tasks and record findings using the Port's ERP. * Conduct statutory inspections and report defects clearly and accurately. * Identify recurring issues and recommend practical engineering solutions. * Work to all relevant safety legislation, RAMS, policies and risk assessments. * Coordinate small-to-medium sized tasks, including labour, materials and equipment. * Act as point of contact for engineering issues during out of hours work. * Support ongoing improvement, training and development across the team. What We're Looking For Skills & Experience * Completed mechanical apprenticeship (minimum NVQ Level 3 relevant C&G). * At least 3 years post qualification experience. * Experience with hydraulics, heavy machinery, plant and/or vehicle systems. * Strong mechanical diagnostic and assessment skills. * Ability to review and create RAMS. * Broad technical knowledge across varied plant and equipment. * Good IT literacy and a full driving licence. * Welding/fabrication experience (advantageous). Practical Requirements * High level of physical capability and precision. * Ability to work in demanding conditions (noise, weather, confined areas, heights). * Willingness to work additional hours at short notice. * Participation in standby rotas or 24/7 shift rota once fully competent.
