The School of Health and Social Care has an excellent reputation for teaching and research. Our academic members of staff include occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychological therapists, nurses, social workers, oral health practitioners and sociologists.

Duties of the Role
The School of Health and Social seeks to appoint a part-time Senior Research Officer. This NIHR supported Brain Injury Social Care Network coordinator role is to support the coordination of research strategy development and grant writing retreats, providing desk research in topics pertaining to brain injury social care. The incubator has a broad remit to develop research that engages with significant heath inequalities, and with marginalised groups such as survivors with experience of homelessness, justice system, drug and alcohol misuse, intimate partner violence, refugee and asylum seekers.

Tasks will involve coordinating social care, charity and academic partners to build their research strategy, and design research studies in these under-researched areas. Working with our project partners the post holder will manage the delivery of the contract with NIHR, promote the incubator, create and maintain the incubator website, manage a database and track outputs, and attend NIHR coordination events. Alongside the project team we will work toward an ambition to maintain the network beyond the current funding and create a legacy of helpful resources for our charity partners.

Skills and qualifications required
With a relevant doctoral level degree in health and social care or equivalent professional experience or practice or be close to completion of PhD, you will be familiar with supporting research grant applications and aware of relevant NIHR funding streams and infrastructure that can help the incubator clients. You will have in an interest in the intersection of brain injury and social care and have demonstrated a strategic approach to project management.

This is a fixed-term post until 30 June 2028. Applicants are cordially invited to discuss the role with Andrew Bateman.
