Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: MID ULSTER COMMUNITY AND ARTS TRUST LTD. This 9-month placement at The Patrician, Carrickmore, offers hands-on experience in the administration and operation of a busy community and arts venue. The role provides practical exposure to event coordination, communications, and volunteer engagement, supporting both day-to-day operations and larger community events. The position is 15 hours per week, flexible, with some mandatory in-person hours to assist with events, meetings, or operational tasks.


Responsibilities

* Provide administrative support, including managing emails, phone enquiries, bookings, and scheduling.
* Assist in the organisation, promotion, and delivery of events, workshops, and community programmes.
* Maintain and update databases, digital filing systems, and physical records.
* Support social media, website updates, and digital communications to engage the community.
* Help develop operational systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
* Liaise with volunteers, community members, and local organisations to support collaborative projects.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and accessibility requirements for the venue and events.
* Attend and support meetings, taking notes, preparing reports, and following up on actions as required.


Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

* Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Basic digital literacy, including Microsoft Office, email, and social media platforms.
* Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow instructions when needed.
* Flexible approach to work hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
* Professionalism in a public-facing environment.

Desirable Skills

* Interest or experience in arts, heritage, or community development projects.
* Event planning or coordination experience, including volunteer management.
* Familiarity with digital marketing, newsletters, or website content management.

JobStart Opportunity - Working Hours Information - Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. - Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. - Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
