The role
* The primary purpose of this role is to provide visible, effective Health, Safety and Wellbeing leadership and advice to the project team for Mace Dragados HS2 Curzon Street. The role is focussed in delivering expertise and excellence in the area of Construction Safety.
* The role-holder will provide support, and influence decisions affecting Health, Safety and Wellbeing, working closely with the Head of HSW, the project leadership team, supply chain partners, the Client and other relevant stakeholders.
* They will develop a team of technical experts and deliver a compliant, progressive and “best in class” service through diligent and effective use of that resource.
* This Role Profile should be read in conjunction with the HS2 HSW Strategy and Delivery, Team Profile.
Roles & Responsibilities
* Maintain core areas of expertise and impart knowledge to aid the development and delivery of HSW within Mace Dragados. Inclusive of acting in the context of a consultant to other parts of business in regard to the core expertise they can impart.
* Represent Mace Dragados expertise in an industry wide context. The role holder’s expertise needs to be visible and delivered in the context of continuous improvement across industry through representing Mace Dragados in various HS2 led, and other industry, HSW Forums.
* Maintain a focus on continuous improvement. Develop and apply tools and techniques, define business/project strategies and methods to initiate and/or implement change to improve HSW and business performance.
* An understanding of how generational legacy will be delivered
* Provide professional advice to directors and managers, to assist them in achieving business objectives. The role holder will have the capability to advise and facilitate in a such a manner that operational leaders can make effective and confident decisions that positively improve HSW on the project (and beyond) and has creates net benefit to all stakeholders.
* Maintain awareness of business implications of own activities to improve the quality of technical or business recommendations.
* Maintain personal network. Create, develop and maintain an extensive range of internal/external relationships to maximise impact of expertise and knowledge to influence the quality of strategic decision making.
* Understand the contractual and statutory requirements related to the projects and maintain ability to advise accordingly so as to protect the project’s integrity.
* Establish, develop and maintain long-term corporate relationship
You’ll need to have
* Be able to work effectively as a lead for Construction Safety within a multifunctional HSW Leadership Team
* Initiate and, as appropriate, implement decisions and change.
* Interpret stakeholder requirements, provide guidance and exert influence on HSW matters accordingly.
* Create partnerships with operational leaders and other key stakeholders.
* Work through the entire lifecycle of the project – i.e. understand, create and deliver strategies and tactical safety factors that meet the needs of the workforce in the various project lifecycle stages; mobilisation, stabilisation, transformation, steady state. Furthermore, they will understand how these lifecycle aspects can run concurrently across different work packages.
* Be able to bring a value-focused input at both strategic and tactical delivery-level.
* Understand how to prioritise input to a complex flow of project activities.
* Be able to identify where additional HSW value/work can be developed in our service delivery.
* Have excellent communication and presentation skills in all formats.
* Be able to work within a team context but also be able to self-manage, prioritising input and delivering accordingly.
* Understand how to coordinate with others and delegate accordingly.
