Salary
£58,100 – £87,100 plus car/cash allowance, performance‑related bonus, and a range of other benefits.

Role Overview
As part of SSEN Transmission’s Pathway to 2030 programme, we are looking to appoint Assistant Engineering Managers to support our HVDC and HVAC project portfolios. These roles will play a key part in driving projects forward and bringing innovative thinking to support the growth of our engineering teams and the successful delivery of a Net Zero network.
Responsibilities
* Support the Engineering Manager in delivery of cable engineering work scope for HVDC roles.
* Support the Engineering Manager in delivery of new high‑voltage substation work scopes for HVAC onshore roles.
* Apply robust design and engineering governance.
* Lead and line‑manage a multidisciplinary team of project engineers.
* Promote safety‑in‑design ethos and discharge CDM duties on behalf of SSE.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure technical requirements, risks and opportunities are defined, communicated, and managed.
Qualifications
* BEng/CEng qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline.
* Experience in a senior/lead role overseeing a multidisciplinary team and construction project through the full lifecycle.
* Strong literary and interpersonal communication skills to explain complex technical issues to senior management.
* Competent knowledge of electricity networks and legal/regulatory constraints (e.g., ESQCR, CDM).
* Experience and understanding of ECC and FIDIC contracts.
