Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mental health nursing and demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality care to patients. This role involves working with individuals experiencing a range of mental health challenges, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being while promoting recovery and rehabilitation.
Duties
* Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including mental status evaluations and physical health screenings.
* Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
* Administer medications and monitor patient responses, ensuring adherence to treatment protocols.
* Provide crisis intervention and support for patients experiencing acute mental health episodes.
* Facilitate therapeutic groups and individual counseling sessions to promote coping skills and emotional regulation.
* Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and facility policies.
* Collaborate with healthcare providers to coordinate care transitions and discharge planning.
* Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and community resources.
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes.
Experience
Candidates should have experience or knowledge in the following areas:
* Epic and Cerner EMR systems for efficient patient documentation.
* Critical care experience, particularly in Level I or Level II trauma centers.
* Familiarity with ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding for accurate medical record keeping.
* Experience in behavioral health settings, including memory care, geriatrics, hospice & palliative medicine, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
* Proficiency in basic life support, IV insertion, medication administration, phlebotomy, and vital signs monitoring.
* Knowledge of pain management techniques, acute pain management strategies, and case management principles.
* Experience in various nursing settings such as inpatient care, outpatient clinics, home care, urgent care, emergency medicine, pediatrics, and medical-surgical units.
