Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of students with Autism Spectrum Condition? We work with forward-thinking SEND schools that is looking for a dedicated ASC Learning Support Assistant to join their team immediately. This opportunity has the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.
In this vital role, you'll provide tailored support to students with ASC, helping them access the curriculum, develop key life skills, and thrive both socially and emotionally. You’ll work closely with class teachers, SEN professionals, and families to ensure that every child receives the support they need to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver 1:1 and small group support to students with ASC, using individualised learning strategies
2. Adapt learning materials and classroom resources to meet specific student needs
3. Develop and implement visual supports and communication systems to aid understanding
4. Encourage social interaction, building positive peer relationships and inclusive classroom dynamics
5. Work collaboratively with teaching staff to monitor progress, set goals, and implement targeted interventions
6. Promote the development of social skills, self-regulation, and student independence
7. Support students during transitions and sensory regulation activities, creating a calm, structured environment
8. Keep accurate records of student progress, behaviours, and strategies used
9. Maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers to share updates and offer support strategies for home

✅ Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should have:
10. Experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or similar, ideally with ASC students
11. Sound knowledge of Autism Spectrum Condition and its impact on learning and behaviour
12. Familiarity with evidence-based strategies for ASC (e.g., PECS, TEACCH, sensory integration)
13. Understanding of sensory regulation techniques and classroom adaptations
14. A flexible, patient, and empathetic approach to support
15. A commitment to ongoing professional development
16. An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
