Job summary


Are you a dynamic and compassionate leader ready to make a real difference in young people's lives? Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 7 Team Manager to lead our CAMHS Community Eating Disorder Service (CEDS). This is a unique opportunity to deliver high-quality care, drive service innovation, and shape the future of mental health support for children and adolescents.

As Team Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the CAMHS Community Service, ensuring clinical excellence and operational efficiency. You will manage a multidisciplinary team, maintain a clinical caseload (50% of your hours), and play a key role in service development aligned with the Trust's strategic goals.

We welcome applications from senior clinicians currently working within an eating disorder team or those with significant experience supporting young people with eating disorders.


Main duties, tasks & skills required

* Lead and manage the CAMHS CEDS Service, ensuring delivery of high-quality care within agreed objectives and standards.
* Maintain a clinical caseload for 50% of your contractual hours, providing advanced assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
* Provide clinical leadership and supervision to team members.
* Manage recruitment, performance, and development of staff in line with Trust policies.
* Ensure operational and financial efficiency, including budget management and resource allocation.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including GPs, partner agencies, and service user groups.
* Promote patient involvement and feedback in service development.
* Uphold safeguarding, equality, and confidentiality standards.

Job description


Clinical Responsibilities

* Deliver expert clinical care and maintain accountability for your caseload.
* Use advanced clinical reasoning to assess and treat complex presentations.
* Support junior staff and ensure high standards of care across the team.
* Communicate effectively with patients and families, including delivering sensitive information.

Leadership & Management

* Line manage the CAMHS team, including recruitment, supervision, and appraisal.
* Lead workforce planning and skill-mix development.
* Promote a culture of openness, learning, and continuous improvement.
* Ensure staff receive appropriate training and development opportunities.

Service Development & Governance

* Drive service innovation aligned with Trust strategy.
* Lead clinical audits and implement evidence-based practice.
* Manage incidents and complaints in collaboration with the Trust's risk and complaints teams.
* Ensure compliance with clinical policies and governance standards.

Operational & Financial Management

* Monitor and manage service budgets and resources.
* Act as an authorised signatory for team expenditures.
* Support divisional savings initiatives and resource optimisation.

Safeguarding & Compliance

* Adhere to child protection policies and procedures.
* Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection regulations.
* Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of service delivery.


Person specification



Qualifications



Essential


Recognised professional qualification in nursing, social work or occupational therapy, at degree level

Evidence of continuing professional development

Management qualification or experience


Experience



Essential


Experience of working with young people with an Eating Disorder.

Demonstrable capacity and capability for operational/clinical service management, including staff management, financial management and change management.

Experience of providing high quality effective services within resource limits

Experience of delivering care in a community setting and providing a range of diverse services

Experience of supporting staff and developing staff members and active performance management
