About The Role – Instrument & Controls Technician
We are looking for an Instrument & Controls (I&C) Technician to join our highly skilled and efficient Maintenance Department. In this role, you will provide expert technical support and perform advanced preventative maintenance, calibration, repairs and installations on various instrumentation systems. Ideally you will have a working knowledge of Functional Safety and Safety critical systems, DCS and Programmable Logic Control equipment. Some experience of telecommunications systems would also be an advantage.
Qualifications & Experience
To be considered for this position, you should ideally have the following:
* Completion of recognised Instrument & Controls (I&C) Craft Apprenticeship / HNC/HND qualified
* Proficient understanding of Functional Safety principles in accordance with IEC 61511, maintenance of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
* Qualified in Hazardous Area Inspections e.g. CompEx EX 01, 02, 03 and 04
* A proven track record of hands-on experience, ideally with at least 5 years of post-apprenticeship experience within the oil and gas industry
* Knowledge of Health, safety and Environmental requirements associated with a top tier COMAH installation
* Experience in the fault diagnosis, calibration and repair of a variety of instrumentation associated with the Oil/Gas industry (e.g. transmitters, online gas chromatography, moisture, infrared, oxygen and pH)
* Excellent knowledge and understanding of planned maintenance, installation and repair activities
* Good knowledge of permit to work systems and isolation procedures
* Experience of using a CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System), preferably SAP
* Knowledge of telecommunication and security systems, including PABX, PAGA, radio communications, CCTV, and physical security systems
* Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills with attention to detail
* Fully familiar with permit to work systems and isolation procedures
* Able to work at heights if required
* Able to form effective working relationships with people at all levels
