Systems Administrator (Azure / Infrastructure)
Salary: Circa £40,000
Location: Colchester (4 Days On‑Site, 1 Day WFH)
This is a great opportunity to join a well‑established manufacturing organisation as a Systems Administrator, supporting a broad range of on‑premise and cloud technologies. The role is hands‑on, infrastructure‑focused, and ideal for someone looking to expand their Azure and systems experience while still remaining involved in day‑to‑day technical operations.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining the stability, security and performance of IT services across both office and manufacturing environments. Working closely with the internal IT team, you’ll support infrastructure improvements, contribute to ongoing modernisation projects, and act as an escalation point for more complex technical issues.
Key Responsibilities
Support, maintain and improve on‑premise and cloud infrastructure, including Azure‑hosted servers and core business systems
Assist in server administration, configuration and upgrades across virtualised and cloud environments (Hyper‑V / VMware / Azure)
Act as an escalation point for 1st and 2nd line engineers, owning complex issues through to resolution
Support on-prem to Azure migration activity and other infrastructure‑led improvement projects
Administer Microsoft 365, Exchange Online and related identity/security components
Provide structured documentation, contribute to change processes, and ensure system configurations follow best practice
Troubleshoot hardware, software and network issues across a mixed office/manufacturing environment
Support key business platforms, including ERP systems (Dynamics AX experience beneficial)
Experience Required
Strong background in 2nd/3rd line support with exposure to systems administration
Hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange Online and Windows Server environments
Familiarity with Azure infrastructure (VM deployment, resource configuration, basic administration)
Understanding of virtualisation technologies such as Hyper‑V or VMware
Experience working with ticketing systems, acting as an escalation point where needed
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across infrastructure and application layers
Clear documentation skills and a structured, methodical approach
Exposure to ERP systems (Dynamics AX a plus), ideally in a manufacturing environmentWhat’s On Offer
