Join to apply for the Compliance Officer role at WMJobs. Birmingham City Council is expanding the Private Rented Sector Property Licensing Service and is seeking committed, enthusiastic and organised individuals to provide a best-in-class service in this new arena. The service will be the largest in the country, fitting for the second City and largest metropolitan Local Authority.
Role details: Permanent, Grade 4 (£34,434 - £41,771) or Consultation grade (subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review); 36.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities
* Receive and process applications from private rented sector landlords, ensure compliance and take enforcement action for unlicensed premises in Birmingham.
* Undertake inspections, investigations and enforce relevant statutory provisions to protect and improve homes and neighbourhoods across the city.
* Advertise and ensure the licensing programme operates effectively and on schedule.
* Maintain clear communication with applicants and colleagues; contribute to the development of lean systems and processes.

Qualifications and Skills
* Good level of education or experience within the discipline.
* Excellent communication skills; commitment to personal development.
* Commitment, enthusiasm and flexibility to work in a busy environment.
* Knowledge of housing legislation and experience in enforcement (ideally).
* Ability to use a range of IT packages.
