Position
Technical Officer (Compliance) – part‑time permanent, working three days per week (potential to expand to full‑time).
Location
York (with potential for flexible working days). Salary: £31,236 to £33,951 per annum (pro rata £18,741 to £20,370).
Role Overview
This role reports to the Head of Engineering, Compliance & Sustainability and is responsible for ensuring statutory compliance across a broad range of technical areas, including radiology equipment (MRI), electrical systems, gas and water systems and safe systems of work. The incumbent will maintain and develop statutory compliance records, lead improvement projects, supervise specialist contractors and strengthen the University’s compliance data capture and reporting.
Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with regulations related to radiology equipment (MRI) and associated requirements.
* Maintain and update compliance records for electrical, gas, water and safety systems.
* Lead targeted improvement projects to enhance compliance and safety.
* Supervise specialist contractors and coordinate work to meet statutory standards.
* Improve compliance data capture and reporting processes.
* Support the university’s environmental sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree level education in a numerate field or comparable relevant experience.
* Strong IT and data‑handling skills, including Excel.
* Experience in facilities management, engineering or safety compliance is desirable.
* Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and problem‑solving ability.
* Excellent communication skills for interacting with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders.
* Proactive, independent working style with a commitment to equality, inclusion and ongoing professional development.
