IT Manager - Kirkcaldy

Lorien's new client, a leading global manufacturer, is seeking an IT Manager to head up IT operations at their UK headquarters in Fife. This is a strategic leadership role with hands-on responsibility across business systems and digital transformation projects. You'll be working closely with the senior leadership team and have the opportunity to shape how technology supports and enhances business performance.
About the Role:
This is a pivotal position where you'll oversee day-to-day IT operations, guide system improvements, and lead the delivery of technical solutions that support business-critical processes such as order management/supply chain/procurement/warehousing, and more.
Reporting to international stakeholders and managing a UK-based team, you'll need to combine strategic thinking with a strong ability to drive projects from inception through to implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage all UK-based IT operations and business systems
2. Act as the key liaison between IT and business users, ensuring technology supports strategic objectives
3. Oversee a range of software systems including ERP/CRM/MES/bespoke solutions and more
4. Manage system upgrades, integrations, and implementation projects across departments
5. Take ownership of the local IT budget (c. £1M), including procurement and cost control
6. Develop and implement IT policies and standards aligned with global governance frameworks
7. Lead, mentor and develop a close-knit team of IT professionals
8. Collaborate with global IT teams to ensure compliance with agreed security, architecture, and network standards
9. Provide technical and operational leadership on key systems including Unix-based ERP and Windows infrastructure
10. Ensure robust service delivery and effective support for approximately 250 personnel
11. Contribute to the global IT strategy from a UK perspective and drive local execution
12. Act as a thought leader in identifying process improvements and digital efficiencies
13. Deliver complex technical and application-based projects on time and within budget
14. Provide clear, confident communication at all levels, including with senior stakeholders
15. Lead vendor management, tenders, and contract negotiations for systems, hardware, and services
What We're Looking For:
16. Proven background in a similar IT management or business systems leadership role
17. Good understanding of business process gained in manufacturing/R&D/supply chain/similar settings
18. Strong background in systems integration and business applications (ERP, CRM, MES, CPQ)
19. Excellent demonstrable team leadership and mentoring skills gained in technical functions
20. Ability to lead and manage applications and infrastructure-oriented projects, budgets and strategic planning processes
21. Confident communicator able to liaise with people across varying business functions and at various levels of seniority
22. Ideally familiarity with as many types of business applications as possible such as E-Business Suite, CPQ offerings, MES tools, etc.
23. Previous exposure to a corporate group IT environment
