Early Years Assistant – Part‑Time
Job Description
The post is fixed term until 03/05/2026. This is a part‑time, term‑time post and the salary will be pro‑rata to the number of hours worked.
We are looking for a candidate enthusiastic about working with children and interested in working within an early learning and childcare centre. The role involves supervising children during the lunch period and undertaking laundry duties within the establishment.
You will have experience working with children aged 0‑5 in an early year or school environment. Good organisational, interpersonal and communication skills are required, a friendly but firm approach and the ability to use your own initiative as well as working to the instruction of the head of the establishment.
You need to be flexible and available during 10.50 am – 2.00 pm Monday – Thursday and 10.50 am – 2.10 pm on a Friday (or the hours defined by the head of establishment).
Requirements
This post is considered regulated work with children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Membership of the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will become members of the relevant PVG scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer by West Dunbartonshire Council.
Responsibilities
Applicants are excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Therefore, applicants are not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions that are “spent” under the Act. Failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
