Overview
An exciting opportunity to join the North East Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Hub as a Screening Officer. The hub supports Bowel Cancer Screening Services for a population of 8.85 million. The role includes administrative, laboratory and call centre functions, including processing returned screening samples, acting as the first point of contact on the national Freephone helpline, and assisting in the production of outgoing mail (invitations, reminders, test packs and results) using bespoke software and complex mailroom equipment as part of the call and recall of the national programme.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of the integrated administrative and laboratory based team to meet national targets and standards set by the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
* Process returned screening samples.
* Act as first point of contact on the national Freephone helpline.
* Assist in the production of outgoing mail (invitations, reminders, test packs and results) using bespoke software and complex mailroom equipment as part of the call and recall of the national programme.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: Educated to Certificate or Diploma level or equivalent experience.
* Essential: Knowledge of administration functions.
* Desirable: Computer qualification (OCR or equivalent).
* Desirable: NVQ Level 2 in Office Administration or equivalent.
* Desirable: Previous office administration, data entry experience, prior screening programme experience, recent NHS experience, and experience dealing with enquiries from members of the public.
Skills
* Knowledge of administration functions.
