As Service Manager, you will support the leadership of the Acute Medicine Department with responsibility and accountability for the effective management, organisation and delivery of the service. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of Medicine Clinical Board, supporting the senior leadership team, leading project and performance improvement work and growing your career within Medicine management.
Responsibilities
* Take operational responsibility of service delivery across the speciality/portfolio area. Work closely with the Directorate Manager, Specialty Manager and Clinical Director and supporting services to identify and deliver sustainable solutions to deliver tier one access targets, providing high quality, cost effective and efficient planned care services. Identify areas of opportunity for service improvement and development.
* Provide strong visible leadership within the service as part of the multidisciplinary team to drive the delivery of ambitious targets and continual improvement of performance within the service area.
* Provide operational expertise and management support to all members of the team, ensuring the provision of an efficient and sustainable secretarial and administration workforce aligned to the needs of the Service. Coach, provide direction and communicate clear expectations to achieve the UHB’s vision.
* Support services to ensure delivery of a high quality, safe and patient-centred Acute Medicine service.
Leadership and Collaboration
* Work with the senior leadership teams within the Medicine Clinical Board to lead project and performance improvement work.
* Engage with multidisciplinary colleagues to drive service improvements and delivery against strategic objectives.
Requirements
* Experience in managing and delivering high quality services, contributing to strategic development, service improvement and redesign, managing projects and leading a team.
* Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to coach and direct teams and set clear expectations to achieve the organisation’s vision.
* The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
