We are currently delivering the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site located in Plymouth and we are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager. The Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing the acquisition of goods and services required by the organization. This role involves developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing to support operational needs. Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required. Please note that this processcan take up to 8 weeks. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and have been a UK resident for the last 5 years can be considered for this role. Your team Location: Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth Contract: Permanent, 42.5 hours Making Possible In this role, you will be working in a live MOD facility. Your day-to-day tasks will include: Develop and implement procurement policies, procedures, and strategies Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and reliability Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers and vendors Manage the end-to-end procurement process including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and delivery tracking Monitor supplier performance and resolve any supply issues or disputes Collaborate with internal departments to forecast demand and plan procurement activities Maintain accurate procurement records and prepare regular reports on procurement status, savings, and supplier performance Ensure compliance with company policies, legal regulations, and ethical standards Lead and develop the procurement team Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement From time to time, you may be required by the Company to perform other tasks, which are not included in the above description, but are within your capabilities and, where necessary, training, and full support will be given What do you bring to the role? Essential: Professionally qualified operator with at least 5 years post professional qualification relevant experience or 8 years experience Academic Qualifications - Commercial related Qualification (HNC, BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng) Experience of similar role, preferred in relevant sector (ie Nuclear and Defence) CSCS - White PQP/AQP Proven experience (typically 5 years) in procurement or supply chain management Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills Knowledge of procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making abilities Understanding of contract law and vendor management Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities under tight deadlines Desirable: Leadership and team management experience is a plus Professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CPPM) is advantageous Whats in it for you?
