Job Title: SEND Support Worker
Location: Multiple Locations
Hours and Weeks per Year: 18 /24 /30 hours all 38 weeks per year
Salary: £23,395 pro rata for hours and weeks
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the SEND Department, Student Experience, at Kirklees College. The position will provide exceptional student support across all curriculum areas and college sites, working with our most vulnerable SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) students to support their learning, achievement and progression into adulthood both in and out of the classroom environment.
Responsibilities
* Develop supportive relationships with students while remaining professional.
* Deliver strategies to promote/reinforce student self-esteem.
* Provide physical and personal care support as required.
* Support learning, achievement and progression for SEND students across curriculum areas and college sites.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Minimum Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C) and a minimum Level 2 qualification relevant to the post.
* Essential ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
* Knowledge and experience of different learning needs and strategies to support students to become independent.
* Experience of working with young people in an educational capacity and understanding of EHCPs and SEND.
* Excellent communication and digital skills; ability to work under the direction of the class tutor and use personal initiative.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
* Ability to demonstrate college values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence.
