What will you be doing?
1. Taking ownership of developing our new data science forecasts in the short-term energy space, starting in GB and across the continent
2. Enhancing and evolving our current forecasting suite, working directly with our clients to understand their key challenges
3. Collaborating with our clients, including traders with varying levels of technical knowledge, to understand requirements and business aims - Identifying problems and delivering timely solutions
4. Working as a collaborative member of the Coding Team, alongside our energy full-stack developers and energy consultants
5. Staying up to date with the developments and changes in the field of machine learning and data-science, including tools and techniques used
LCP Delta’s Power Market Modelling Team
LCP Delta’s Power Market Modelling team develops in-house models of pan-European energy markets. Our consulting teams use these models to support key decision makers enabling the energy transition. This includes to helping Governments and regulators design effective policy and supporting investors to understand revenues expected from their assets.
Example models within the team include our pan-European power market forecasting tool, EnVision, and our battery asset platform STOREcast, which puts our models in our clients’ hands to configure their own asset and produce revenue forecasts. These models use a variety of mathematical techniques from agent-based approaches to stochastic optimisation models.
What skills, experience and qualities are we looking for?
6. Python - demonstrable experience required
7. Experience working across a range of ML models, e.g. TensorFlow and scikit-learn
8. Significant experience in the energy industry, with a specific focus on forecasting the short-term power markets
9. GitHub or Azure DevOps knowledge is desired
10. SQL knowledge is desired
11. Experience in DataBricks is desired, but not necessary
12. You will need to be comfortable working as part of a team, have an enthusiasm for providing an excellent user experience and keen to learn new skills on the job
13. Good communication skills are required with the ability to discuss technical matters in non-technical language
14. A degree in a numerical or computer-based discipline is desirable, but we also welcome applicants from other backgrounds
15. You are able to provide clear and logical thinking processes and has the ability to clearly communicate examples of work
