Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* To be responsible for your own and others Health & Safety, complying with company Health & Safety policy.
* Ensure driver compliance against BRC and GDP standards ensuring company procedures and protocols are followed at all times
* To effectively plan all vehicle routes (including allocation of driver and trailer), maximising capacity and revenue per load
* Produce and issue all relevant paperwork for vehicle routes to drivers, sub-contractors and the warehouse team
* Ensure driver packs are ready for driver’s departures. To include all relevant documentation
* Scanning of customer paperwork and POD’s into transport management system
* To monitor and respond to emails within the transport inbox
* To effectively communicate to every driver their daily load plan to ensure they are fully aware of what is expected from them and if there are any special instructions/requirements.
* To monitor on time deliveries and make sure customer deliver points are made aware of delays
* To ensure any order amendments/special deliveries/ collections are captured and communicated where necessary
* Communicate to drivers where trailers are to be located at the end of their shift and any vehicle servicing information.
* Regular cleanliness inspections of vehicles inside and out. Speak to drivers if not up to standard
* Liaising with Warehouse team on any customer returns or rejections
* Liaise with Warehouse to ensure smooth operation with any live loading vehicles
* Ensuring all drivers maintain high standards of behaviours
* Assist in the general upkeep of the site by reporting any breakdowns or damage to building fabrication to Senior Management Team
* Ensure a thorough handover is completed at the end of the shift
* To ensure clean desk policy is adhered to
Experience
* Experience working as a Transport Planner, within a fast-paced environment managing a medium-sized fleet. Working with various customers with differing requirements.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective Clients.
* A solid understanding of Transport Management Systems and Microsoft packages.
* Experience communicating with and monitoring drivers
* Knowledge of tachograph regulations and driver hours
Salary & Shift Pattern
* £27,000 per annum
* 35hour average working week
* Week One – Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun
* Week Two – Wed, Thurs
* Hours – 8am-6pm (some flexibility required – occasional 7am-5pm shifts may be required) – 10hours per day
* Panama Shift Pattern – 3’s and 2’s (every other Friday, Saturday & Sunday off)
