About The Role
As a Garment Technologist, you'll work within the ASOS Technical team, reporting to the Senior Technologist. This is a highly collaborative role, where you'll work closely with the Buying, Merchandising, Design, Digital, and Fabric teams, and have the opportunity to get involved in various cross-departmental projects. It's important that you are self-motivated and can take ownership of your responsibilities. Besides technical expertise, organizational and analytical skills are essential, along with good time management and the ability to prioritize a busy workload.
Team and Objectives
The ASOS Technical team focuses on achieving high product quality that looks great, fits well, and offers value for money. They collaborate with buying, merchandising, design, and ethical departments to ensure products meet quality standards. A desire to improve quality and fit, the ability to work within a diverse team, build relationships with business and supplier levels, and think quickly in a fast-paced environment are crucial.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with Buying, Merchandising, Design, Digital, Fabric, and supply base, leveraging your understanding of fitting, manufacturing processes, and costings.
2. Support the Head of Category to meet ASOS KPIs, including right first-time sealing hit rate.
3. Work with Design and Buying teams to ensure correct samples and improve sealing hit rate.
4. Own the fit and sealing process, embedding virtual fitting on Optitex, ensuring supplier and buyer engagement.
5. Ensure core fabrics are scanned into the Optitex fabric library and selected during the Design brief stage.
6. Stay updated with Optitex software upgrades and manage virtual fit processes.
7. Assess risks related to product quality, safety, wearer trials, and production issues.
8. Benchmark quality standards through lessons learned, digital collaboration, and supplier engagement.
9. Analyze quality issues and customer returns, implementing corrective actions.
10. Maintain accurate technical data on the supplier Extranet.
11. Ensure correct fabric and block references during Design Briefs.
12. Support suppliers in achieving Self Gold Seal status and ensure correct technical packs are provided.
13. Respond to customer complaints and queries.
14. Keep abreast of industry innovations and network internally and externally.
