The Adult Forensic Service at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for Consultant Forensic Psychiatrists to contribute to improving patient experiences and developing our new model of care.
While our new model is under development and medical job planning is under review, it is anticipated that post holders will serve as Responsible Clinician for 12-16 male inpatients or 10-12 female inpatients, managing their caseload from admission to discharge.
We welcome discussions with interested candidates and look forward to hearing from you. This role can be full-time within our women's blended secure service (WBS) or our male medium secure service. Both positions offer the chance to shape the future of secure services for women and men in Greater Manchester.
You will be supported by a multidisciplinary team, including a medical secretary, junior doctors, clinical psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and nursing colleagues. Additional physical health support is provided by visiting GPs, dentists, and a dedicated physical health team.
Responsibilities include inpatient management, on-call work, access assessments, and other activities negotiated with colleagues and aligned with our new care model.
All positions are subject to pre-employment checks, and applicants requiring a DBS must subscribe to the DBS Update Service for an annual fee of £16.
We are committed to diversity and inclusion, actively encouraging applications from underrepresented groups such as BAME, Disabled, and LGBT+ communities. For informal discussions or support, please contact us.
Note: Use of AI in applications is monitored, and responses may be explored further during interviews.
