Are you an enthusiastic nurse looking for a new opportunity in neonatal care? Join the Newborn Care Unit at The John Radcliffe Hospital, part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking Band 5 nurses to provide level 3 care for extremely preterm infants and collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team across surgery, neurology, cardiology and ophthalmology.
Responsibilities
* Work as a member of the multi‑disciplinary team providing safe, effective, evidence‑based care to babies and their families.
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized care plans for babies and families.
* Administer medications safely in accordance with Newborn Care Unit policy and NMC guidelines.
* Safely transfer babies within the hospital, adhering to unit policy.
* Recognise emergencies, interpret information and take appropriate action, seeking support when required.
* Assess educational and information needs of families and devise plans to meet those needs.
* Participate in clinical audits, clinical supervision, the appraisal process and research projects.
* Support senior members of staff in the safe running of the unit and coordinate nursing activity to keep the unit operating smoothly.
* Collaborate with other clinical areas, liaison for effective handover for babies transferred to other units.
Qualifications
* Valid Band 5 nursing registration (children’s, adult or midwife accepted).
* Desirable but not essential: critical care experience.
* Practice in accordance with NMC guidelines, Trust policies and local directorate standards.
* Complete statutory training, including a yearly resuscitation update and competency training for newborn care.
* Commitment to continual learning and professional growth.
