About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Food Technician with Design & Technology (DT) experience to join our vibrant secondary school in Newham. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting our Food and DT departments, helping to deliver engaging and high-quality practical lessons for our students.
You will work closely with teaching staff to prepare materials, maintain equipment, ensure health and safety standards are met, and support students during practical sessions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare, set up and clear away ingredients, tools and equipment for Food and DT lessons.
2. Support teachers and students during practical sessions, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
3. Maintain and organise stock, equipment and resources for both Food and DT classrooms.
4. Assist in maintaining high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and health & safety compliance.
5. Contribute to displays, projects, and the smooth running of the department.
The Ideal Candidate
6. Has experience working as a technician, assistant, or in a similar practical support role – ideally in a school setting.
7. Possesses good knowledge of Food Technology and Design & Technology resources and safety procedures.
8. Is proactive, organised, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
9. Holds relevant qualifications or training in Food Hygiene, Health & Safety, or a related area (desirable).
10. Is passionate about supporting young people’s learning and development.
