Role: Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Salary: Up to £55,000 – depending on experience
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30 – 17:00
Location: Stonehouse, GL10 3EZ – (Hybrid – 3 days minimum in the office)

We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of our hybrid infrastructure and help shape its future. You will report to the Head of IT Operations and work within a growing team supporting a multi-site European business with warehouse, distribution and retail operations. Acting as the technical authority for infrastructure, you will define standards and contribute to architectural direction. This is a hands-on, strategic role where you will combine technical expertise with leadership to drive automation, modernisation, and continuous improvement across our hybrid infrastructure. Your work will strengthen security, optimise performance, and support our long-term digital transformation—helping the business thrive on a robust, future-ready technology foundation.
What the Senior Infrastructure Engineer role will entail?
Leading and supporting our hybrid infrastructure estate across on-premises and Microsoft Azure environments.
Owning the reliability, performance, security and scalability of servers, networks, cloud platforms and Microsoft 365.
Driving automation and Infrastructure as code to improve consistency, speed and operational efficiency.
Supporting Azure DevOps and deployment pipelines in partnership with development and application teams.
Taking ownership of infrastructure projects – upgrades, migrations, new site deployments and lifecycle refreshes.
Strengthening security, disaster recovery and operational resilience through testing, monitoring and continuous improvement.
Acting as a senior technical escalation point and leading root cause analysis for major incidents.
Producing and maintaining high-quality technical documentation, standards and runbooks.
Participating in a structured on-call rota and supporting out-of-hours activity where necessary to maintain service continuity across a multi-site operation.
What are we looking for in our Senior Infrastructure Engineer?
We're looking for someone who thrives on solving complex challenges, driving improvement, and building secure, scalable, and modern IT solutions. You will be confident leading projects, influencing technical decisions, and empowering both people and systems to perform at their best.
5+ years' experience in infrastructure, systems or network engineering roles.
Strong hands-on experience across Windows Server environments, hybrid Active Directory / Entra ID, Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS), Microsoft 365, Intune and modern endpoint management. Experience supporting VMware or equivalent virtualisation platforms and enterprise networking environments.
Proven experience delivering complex infrastructure projects end-to-end.
A solid understanding of security, disaster recovery and compliance frameworks.
Confidence to own technical direction, influence stakeholders and work closely with partners and vendors.
A proactive and collaborative mindset with a passion for modern infrastructure and continuous improvement.
