Stantec have an excellent opportunity for a talented, high calibre, dynamic and accomplished Chartered Structural Engineer to help lead and grow our Structural Engineering division. To support our ambitious growth plans, we are now seeking a Structural Team Lead to join us in any of our South Water offices, the successful candidate will provide regional leadership to the team and must possess a high level of technical competency, engender trust and exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills befitting of this senior role. A driven and dedicated leader who makes firm effective decisions and has a collaborative determined mind-set to create workable, pragmatic and fair plans that will be seen as the right solution. In addition, the individual will need to have a ‘hands-on’ approach to project delivery using state-of- the- art technology and provide effective leadership, mentoring and supervision to the team. The ability to travel is fundamental to the success of this role, with regular travel expected to meet with the Structural Team in High Wycombe, London, Manchester and Bristol.
Key deliverables and accountabilities include:
1. Provide leadership, line management and develop the Group as a team.
2. Provide techical expertise in structural design to meet project needs using state-of-the-art techniques.
3. Driving the integrated work with Pune for better collaboration.
4. Ensure that projects are delivered to the agreed outputs on budget, on time and to quality standards.
5. Possess the ability to influence others through a combination of excellent technical knowledge and communication skills.
6. Plan, forecast and co-ordinate resources with group managers efficiently.
7. Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of survey, design, drafting, project and contract management standards and techniques.
8. Liaise with internal and external clients to engender trust and confidence in the Structural Group’s capability.
9. Provide technical assistance to staff, including training within specific areas of responsibility and expertise as required.
10. Reviewing and checking the work of others and remaining focused on important priorities.
11. Provide support and on-going development / mentoring for team members across the region.
12. Build internal and external relationships with new clients and key stakeholders.
13. Adopt a ‘hands-on’ approach to project delivery.
About you
You will be degree qualified (or equivalent) in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or other relevant subject with knowledge and experience of water retaining structures. You will be a Chartered member of a relevant engineering institution e.g. IStructE, ICE with practical, hands-on and up-to-date experience in Structural Engineering, in water engineering or a similar industry.
You will have experience in managing and mentoring junior staff, fostering their professional development. You will oversee project budgets and timelines for the structural engineering aspects. You will prepare and review technical documents, reports, and proposals.
