Job Summary
Architectural Designer role located in Glasgow Office, part of the AECOM Multidiscipline Design Team. Responsibilities include delivering architectural design solutions on large‑volume projects and coordinating with engineering and specialist teams.
Project/Design Responsibilities
* Contribute from the onset of a project to the design of innovative and progressive solutions that reconcile client goals while fostering design excellence.
* Perform material and building system research and participate in coordination and preparation of project specifications.
* Ensure CDM safety in design.
Managerial Responsibilities
* Organise own and technical staff to achieve set deadlines.
* Ensure that projects are completed on time and meet all requirements of the design brief and client documents.
* Responsible for the correctness, accuracy and complete multidisciplinary coordination of design documentation prepared by the team.
* Ensure the quality of technical work meets AECOM’s Technical Excellence standards.
* Interact routinely with managers, seniors, clients, contractors, local authority representatives and others to resolve critical issues.
* Promote teamwork within a multidisciplinary team, maintaining positive morale and creative culture.
* Make appropriate value judgements with respect to corrective work that supports design concept and performance goals.
* Support principals and/or directors with operational responsibilities including development and implementation of Technical Excellence initiatives, resource management, and training initiatives.
* Ensure the latest software and digital techniques are utilized to increase productivity.
Qualifications
* Proficient in Revit.
* Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe, and Microsoft Office programmes.
* Understanding of BIM Level 2 requirements and processes.
* Experience with BREEAM/DREAM (desirable).
* Excellent understanding of the English and Scottish Building Regulations.
* Familiar with statutory consent procedures in Scotland and England.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Ability to speak in public and lead design team and client meetings.
* Experience as Lead Discipline on multi‑discipline projects.
* Self‑motivated and proactive with ability to work collaboratively and independently.
* Experience undertaking interdisciplinary design checks to a high standard.
* Experience working on UK Defence Projects (desirable); also education, industrial, and health projects (desirable).
* Experience running multiple jobs simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
* Experience working with multi‑stakeholder clients and framework delivery.
* Experience working on projects in Scotland and England.
* Experience working on listed building projects (desirable).
* Experience working in multidisciplinary design teams.
Additional Information
The candidate must be a UK national, having lived in the UK for more than five years and not been abroad for more than three months in the past five‑year period. The candidate must hold a UK passport.
