ICT Tutor - Campsfield Immigration Removal Centre
Campsfield IRC is due to open soon as the UK's first all-electric Immigration Removal Centre, providing custody services, welfare, regime and recreational activities. We are looking for respectful, diligent and caring colleagues to join our team.
Job objectives and responsibilities
1. To proactively promote and design educational activities in ICT, this tutor will deliver workshops to meet the needs of the residents and fulfilling contractual requirements.
2. To provide a safe, secure, stimulating, supportive and productive environment for residents that encourages them to attend and enables them to learn and develop their skills
Main duties
3. Assess the ICT level of all learners who come into the classroom and provide a short induction to residents to encourage their participation and ensure that the teaching provided is relevant and interesting.
4. Develop and deliver core modular courses and the learning programme, supporting and encouraging all learners to enable them to achieve their learning objectives.
5. Actively promote e-learning and further education opportunities in the classroom where appropriate
6. Actively promote the opportunities available to ensure residents are informed and there is optimal uptake.
7. Create and maintain a safe, secure, positive and friendly learning environment where residents feel welcomed and respected.
8. Monitor attendance, retention and achievement figures and assist in the development of strategies and procedures to make improvements and ensure value for money .
9. Ensure the completion of all documentation and administration in line with company policies and any external agency requirements so that accurate, compliant data is maintained and provided.
10. Use all resources effectively to ensure quality of service and value for money.
11. Manage the learning environment ensuring maintenance and security of tools and equipment at all times to relevant standards.
12. Advise on equipment and purchases necessary to meet contractual requirements and best practice within education.
13. Support Regimes covering other areas as required and provide continuity of service.
14. Undertake further duties to support the Regimes department and the delivery of relevant vocational courses as required.
Person Specification
Essential
15. An appropriate teaching qualification and experience is required
16. In-depth knowledge of vocational skills in their area of specialism
17. Previous teaching experience within a related subject is required
Desirable
18. Experience of delivering relevant workshops and training
19. Experience within the custodial setting
20. Experience of working with ESOL learners would be advantageous and a patient and understanding attitude to the language difficulties faced by learners essential.

You must be eligible for CTC clearance.
You must hold a valid British passport or an EU passport with a share code. Additionally, you must have lived and worked in the UK for at least 3 years, without any extended trips overseas. Applicants must have no criminal convictions and must not be subject to any ongoing police investigations.
